I’m Alai Zimmermann. My name combines “joyful” (Alai in Basque) and “carpenter” (Zimmermann in German) and these words that reflect my essence.
I live and create in the Menorcan countryside, where every object, space, and experience I craft is an act of experimentation, creativity, and respect for nature.
I draw inspiration from the seasons, the subtle shifts in the landscape, the uniqueness of each species, and the rhythms of the natural world.
B ORIGIN
This project was born in my childhood home in Menorca.
After living many years away from the island, I felt the need to return; to reconnect with my essence, my family, and my surroundings.
It wasn’t an easy path, but over time I understood that my creative freedom lives lies here, beneath my feet and in my hands … surrounded by flowers and fire.
C TERRITORY
The landscape of Menorca is the soul of my work.
Each season brings new materials, colors, scents, and textures that inspire my creations.
To work with the land means to respect it, to understand its rhythm, and to transform it without force. Every flower, ingredient, and object is an expression of this place and its ever-changing nature.
